OAKLAND (March 15, 2019) — PRESS RELEASE — NUG, one of the premier diversified cannabis companies in California, will debut its first ever retail location in the Midtown neighborhood of Sacramento, Calif. on Monday, March 18th. The opening marks a major milestone in the state’s adult-use cannabis market, as NUG is the first brand to oversee their products every step of the way, from the cultivation and extraction to the in-store experience and customer relations.

"Combining NUG's commitment to create premier cannabis retail stores with our company mission of normalizing the cannabis experience, the new NUG dispensary serves as a showcase for ‘best of the best cannabis’ grown and products manufactured in California. Equally important, the dispensary functions as an oasis for adult patients and consumers alike to feel comfortable, safe and knowledgeable before making a purchase,” said Dr. John Oram, NUG founder and CEO. “We are thrilled to make our mark in Sacramento, which will set the stage for four additional retail stores scheduled to open in California in 2019.”

State-of-the-Art Store

NUG Sacramento will be stocked with the brand’s portfolio of award-winning products including concentrates, edibles, flowers and pre-rolls, all of which have been developed at NUG’s world-class Oakland facilities through trailblazing R&D, extraction, distillation and post-processing laboratories. In addition, the store will offer a carefully curated selection of products from NUG’s respected contemporaries. There will be more than 300 items available including infused beverages, vape cartridges and topicals, from noteworthy and like-minded brands such as Absolute Xtracts, Kingpen, Papa & Barkley and more.

NUG purchased the building in 2017 that will house the 3,500-square-foot retail store, first investing $1.4 million in structural retrofits and a complete overhaul of the exterior and interior. The contemporary yet warm and welcoming design represents a new model in cannabis retail, and is a collaboration between Chris French Metal, a firm specializing in highly crafted architectural metal, and Alexander Design. The shop also fits the modern design of Midtown Sacramento, an area which is experiencing revitalization including new bars and restaurants, live/work high-rises and general retail.

NUG Sacramento is opening in partnership with Amplified Cannabis, a local cultivator of premium indoor cannabis. Amplified Cannabis products will be featured in the Sacramento store.

All-Women Management Team

At the helm of the new store will be an all-women management team, comprised of accomplished business professionals who are well-equipped to establish NUG in a new market:

  • Sandra Truitt, General Manager of Retail Sales with more than two decades of retail experience at Whole Foods Market
  • Shaina Pritchard, Sacramento Manager who has over a decade of management and ownership experience

“NUG is committed to embracing diversity and fostering a gender-equal workplace culture,” Dr. John Oram added. “Community is extremely important to us across the board, whether in our Oakland headquarters or our new home in Sacramento.
